Confronting Islamophobia in our classrooms during times of war with Amira Elghawaby

Location: Online
Time: 4:00 – 5:00 PM EST
Date: April 29th

Since the start of the latest war in the Middle East, Islamophobic content has grown exponentially on social media platforms. With young people increasingly exposed to harmful narratives about Muslims online, educators require tools and resources to help counter these dangerous ideas that seek to divide and even radicalize people to hate.

Amira Elghawaby, Canada’s former Special Representative on Combatting Islamophobia, will join the Harmony Movement, to  provide a detailed presentation on how international conflicts are impacting our schools — and what educators can do to help students navigate this climate and resist the pull to view the world through false binaries.
